Avengers: Doomsday: Jeremy Renner Reveals Why Hawkeye Was Cut from the Film
Avengers: Doomsday won’t feature Hawkeye, and actor Jeremy Renner has finally explained why the hero was left out.

In March, Avengers: Doomsday made headlines after a massive livestream confirmed the return of several major heroes, and, unfortunately, Hawkeye wasn’t one of them.
At first, fans hoped that the lineup wasn’t final and that Marvel would later announce the archer’s comeback. However, a new statement from actor Jeremy Renner has officially ended those hopes. And it doesn’t bring good news for his followers.
Avengers: Doomsday Drops Hawkeye’s Return
During a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Jeremy Renner confirmed that he will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday (set for release in December 2026) or in Avengers: Secret Wars (scheduled for December 2027).
The reason, according to Renner, is surprisingly simple: his schedule is packed. “I’m very busy,” the actor said bluntly, leaving little room for speculation.
While some fans think he might be hiding his true involvement, several clues suggest that Renner’s connection with Marvel has grown weaker over the years.
Is Hawkeye Gone for Good?
This isn’t the first sign of distance between the actor and the studio. In a previous interview, Renner revealed a disagreement with Marvel regarding his pay for a potential second season of Hawkeye on Disney+. According to him, the studio offered only half of his original salary — and he turned it down.
Meanwhile, Marvel has already positioned a successor in the MCU: Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. It’s entirely possible that Avengers: Doomsday will feature her instead of Hawkeye.
If this truly marks the end of Renner’s Marvel journey, then his final appearance remains the Hawkeye series from 2021. A fitting conclusion where the character hints at retiring his bow and arrow for good.
