Avengers: Doomsday – Marvel Wastes Opportunity With Trailers
With Avengers: Doomsday trailers, Marvel is missing a major opportunity – find out what it is.

After the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was basically an announcement of Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers, the upcoming trailers are expected to feature already confirmed characters, such as Thor, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Wakandans.
And in this author’s humble opinion, the choice of format for these next three trailers represents a major wasted opportunity by Marvel.
By focusing the first trailer solely on confirming the return of Steve Rogers, Marvel Studios could have used this momentum to release a trailer for each actor or character not yet confirmed in the film—meaning, actors who were not present during the “chair livestream.”
Marvel misses opportunity with Avengers: Doomsday trailers
For example, we have some obvious actors who have not yet been confirmed, such as the leads of The Marvels—Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris—as well as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Just right there, I’ve cited four characters who will possibly be in the movie but haven’t been officially announced, just like Chris Evans.
So, why do I believe these trailers are missing an opportunity? Because just as the first trailer brought the announcement of one character’s return, the other three trailers could have followed this trend, confirming one character per week, totaling four major reveals.
4 trailers = 4 character announcements
It would have been a much better strategy if Marvel had used these four trailers to introduce characters not yet announced for the film. In fact, the ideal scenario would be three trailers confirming surprise characters and a fourth trailer exclusive to Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
The strategy of using a classic Avenger like Thor and nostalgic characters like the X-Men in these first trailers might have been a good idea, but it would have been even better to use them to confirm characters that fans only theorize are in the plot.
For example, imagine a trailer confirming the return of Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in Doomsday? That would undoubtedly break the internet and hit a historic viewership record.
This author’s hope is that Marvel Studios is paying attention to Legado da Marvel and will use this trailer-announcement strategy in the coming months. Would you like that?
