Avengers: Doomsday: Mystique’s New Look Is Completely Different From the Old X-Men Movies

Avengers: Doomsday will feature the return of several X-Men characters — including the mutant Mystique, one of the most popular figures from the original films.

Rebecca Romijn will once again play Mystique, the shapeshifting mutant she portrayed in the original trilogy, returning to the role 20 years later.

Alongside her, other mutants like Cyclops, Magneto, and Nightcrawler will also appear in the next Avengers movie — and their new looks have already leaked online.

Mystique Will Have a Completely New Look in Avengers: Doomsday!

In September, a piece of leaked concept art offered the first glimpse at the mutants’ designs. Many of them will return with updated looks, this time more faithful to the comics.

However, the reveal that caught the most attention was Mystique’s. As shown in the leaked artwork, the character will finally be wearing actual clothing.

This return in Avengers: Doomsday not only distances Mystique from the “nude” design of the early X-Men movies but also gives her the classic white-and-blue costume seen in Marvel’s comic books.

What Role Will Mystique Play in the Movie?

Marvel is expected to give the mutants a major presence in the next film. For example, teasers suggest the movie will feature a massive battle between the X-Men and the Avengers.

While it’s still unclear what sparks this conflict, rumors suggest there might even be a showdown between Mystique and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).

Either way, Marvel plans to release the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday in December — so fans should get official news in just a couple of months.
