Initially, Avengers: Secret Wars was planned to premiere today, November 7, 2025, in theaters.
When it was first announced back in 2022, Avengers: Secret Wars was scheduled to premiere in theaters worldwide today, November 7, 2025.
That original announcement mapped out a massive year for the MCU. The plan featured the now-defunct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in May 2025, with Secret Wars following just six months later. This would have marked the first time in history that Marvel Studios released two Avengers films in the same calendar year.
Why the Ambitious Plan Fell Apart
That bold, ambitious idea quickly crumbled. The plan began to unravel following the negative critical and fan reception to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The situation was completely derailed by the legal issues involving actor Jonathan Majors, which ultimately led to his firing from the role of Kang.
Now, the entire slate looks different. The series has been retooled, with Avengers: Doomsday now set as the next major event, featuring Doctor Doom as the primary villain. That film is scheduled to premiere in December 2026.
Consequently, Avengers: Secret Wars has been pushed to December 2027, a full two years after its initial, original release date.
