Black Panther: Marvel Wants the Perfect DC Actor as the New T’Challa

No Damson Idris as Black Panther? Marvel appears to be interested in a DC actor to play Wakanda’s iconic hero.

Several rumors and reports about Black Panther have been circulating in recent months. Although Letitia Wright is confirmed to return as Shuri in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel does appear to be looking for a replacement for T’Challa.

That would explain the leaked artwork and the many rumors about Damson Idris appearing as the hero of Wakanda. However, Marvel may have another actor in mind to take on the mantle long-term.

According to a new rumor, Marvel wants to introduce a new Black Panther in Avengers: Secret Wars. But it will not be Damson.

Marvel wants a DC actor as the new Black Panther

The rumor says Marvel has been meeting with actors such as Aaron Pierre to discuss the role. Interestingly, Aaron is already committed to another superhero universe.

He is set to play the iconic John Stewart in DC’s live-action Green Lantern series for HBO. The show is expected to premiere in the first half of 2026, but that does not seem to stop Marvel from trying to sign him at the same time.

It is possible that Aaron could take on the role for the long term, becoming the official Black Panther of the MCU after Secret Wars, while Damson would appear only in a cameo.

Or… it could be the opposite. Or both of them could simply be Variants in this epic crossover from the Multiverse Saga. Anything is possible at this point, but it is important to emphasize that this is still just a rumor.

Even if the source is considered reliable, treat everything as speculation. Plans can change, and even if the idea is real, Marvel could end up choosing a different actor.

After all, Marvel does not always pick the actors who are fan favorites online. Still, there is something curious here, since Pierre was previously attached to the cast of the Blade reboot before being removed from the project.

Could his exit from Blade, beyond the endless delays, be connected to Black Panther? We will have to wait and see.
