Daredevil: Born Again Star Reveals He Doesn't Like An Acclaimed Episode

During a recent and very relaxed panel at C2E2 2026 in Chicago, star Charlie Cox decided to open up about the behind-the-scenes of the first season of Daredevil: Born Again.

The actor, who has always shown immense affection for the hero, confessed that there was one specific episode he simply did not want to do: the fifth episode of the first season, titled With Interest.

The episode in question shows Matt Murdock trying to secure a bank loan when he finds himself in the middle of a bank robbery. Despite being one of the most praised episodes by the public for showcasing Matt’s skills out of the suit, Cox admitted that he fought against the idea in a polite way.

Charlie Cox did not like this episode of Daredevil: Born Again

For the actor, the premise of a bank robbery in the middle of the technological era of 2025 seemed outdated and hardly believable.

According to him, this dynamic refers more to crime films of the 70s than to current reality, where digital security would make a physical robbery of that magnitude very unlikely.

I thought it was really silly and I fought hard against doing it, in a polite way. I said: I don’t believe in a bank robbery in 2025. This feels like a 70s trope. There is too much technology nowadays for this to work. I also didn’t think the device used for the robbery was sophisticated enough.

Charlie Cox also revealed having found a plot hole that left the production team in silence during filming. He questioned why the villains needed a specific key if they already had access to the vaults.

Which generated a moment of prolonged silence on set before someone simply agreed it was a valid point.

One of the Greatest Audience Successes

Despite the personal criticisms from the interpreter of the Man Without Fear, the final result surprised the actor himself. Even though he was not a fan of the script, he admitted to having watched the episode out of curiosity after receiving internal data from Marvel Studios.

It turns out that With Interest was one of the highest-rated episodes in test screenings in the history of Marvel Television. The audience loved seeing the community vigilante side of Matt Murdock and the interaction with characters like Kamala Khan’s father.

Finally, Cox recognized that public taste is subjective and that, in the end, the episode worked for the Disney+ binge-watching format.

I've been in love with Marvel since I watched Iron Man 2 in the theaters. Since 2010, I started reading, watching, playing, and discussing everything involving Marvel. The love was so deep that I always wanted to share it with other people, and that's why I created Legado da Marvel in 2017.
