Avengers: Doomsday

After making history in cinema with Avengers: Endgame, the next film featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will finally arrive in theaters in December 2026.

It all began when Marvel announced the film as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. But after the villain Kang received a poor reception in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the actor was fired shortly afterward, Marvel then reworked the film.

As a result, at Comic-Con 2024 the studio announced the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Doctor Doom. And with the film now titled Avengers: Doctor Doom – making it perhaps the biggest announcement in Marvel’s history.

On that same day, it was also revealed that directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, known as the Russo Brothers – responsible for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame – are returning to direct the film.

Alongside them, the co-writer of the last Avengers films, Stephen McFeely, also returned and is writing the movie alongside Michael Waldron (from Season 1 of Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Christopher Markus, who partnered with the Russos and McFeely during the Infinity Saga, will not return this time.
