Hated MCU Writer Explains How He’s Helping with Avengers 5 and Secret Wars
Yep, it’s official — Loki’s coming back for Avengers 5 along writer who's hated by the MCU fans.

Yep, it’s official — Loki’s coming back for Avengers 5! Makes perfect sense, right? After all, Tom Hiddleston’s trickster god has become one of the key players in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. But there’s more to it than just that. The Loki series wasn’t just essential to the story — it’s been shaping the MCU behind the scenes too.
Remember Michael Waldron? He wrote Loki Season 1 and later jumped on board as the screenwriter for Avengers: Secret Wars. That announcement came back when Avengers 5 was still going by the title Kang Dynasty — long before Marvel reshuffled everything and brought Robert Downey Jr. back into the spotlight. Crazy how much has changed since then, huh?
Even with all the Kang drama and the major course corrections, Waldron never left the picture. After Marvel decided to part ways with Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness, Waldron was tapped to write both Avengers 5 and 6. And guess who else joined the mix later on? Yep, the Russo Brothers.
They’re back to direct both films, with their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely — who co-wrote Infinity War and Endgame — also returning to the fold.
From Loki to Avengers 5
In a recent interview, Waldron shared some thoughts about working on the new versions of these massive projects. Having been there from the early development days, he’s got a unique perspective on how Doomsday evolved through all those changes.
Check it out:
“I was writing the movie after that but there wasn’t a filmmaker attached yet, I was just involved in all those conversations. When that movie went away, I was working on what would become ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ for a time, and then they brought in the Russos and Steve McFeely.
As those guys got in and wrapped their hands around what these movies were going to be, and [then] there was an opportunity for me to to come back in and get to know Joe and Anthony and Steve and really just help however I could. That’s what I’m trying to do is just support them.”
Beside, let’s remember that he jumped in to rewrite Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which only boosted his “Multiverse expert” status inside Marvel Studios.
Honestly, it’s hard to think of anyone who understands the MCU’s tangled timelines and alternate realities better than Waldron. The guy’s been there for every major multiverse twist so far — from Loki’s TVA madness to Strange’s mind-bending chaos. Experience on top of experience!
So now the big question is: with the Infinity War dream team back together and Waldron’s multiverse genius in the mix, can they pull off another MCU masterpiece? We sure hope so — because Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Marvel projects yet.
