Loki's Writer Details the Secret Work to Connect Doomsday and Secret Wars' Plots

The massive scope of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars requires a team of seasoned architects, and screenwriter Michael Waldron (known for Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) recently offered details on his role in shaping the final two films of the Multiverse Saga.

Waldron confirmed he was deeply involved in the foundational stages of the movies, transitioning into a support role as the production team solidified.

The Secret Work of Michael Waldron in The Next Avengers

Waldron’s comments clarify the timeline following the restructuring of the initial Avengers plan (which was previously titled The Kang Dynasty). He stated that after the previous project “went away”, he was actively working on the scripts for what would eventually become Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars for a period of time.

The process shifted when the acclaimed duo, Joe and Anthony Russo, returned to direct the two films, bringing back their frequent collaborator, writer Stephen McFeely.

Waldron explained that as the Russo Brothers and McFeely “wrapped their hands around what these movies were going to be”, an opportunity arose for him to switch roles.

He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the established team, saying he was able “to come back in and get to know Joe and Anthony and Steve and really just help however I could.” Waldron summarized his current mission as supporting the directors and McFeely as they finalize the ambitious storylines.

Ensuring Multiversal Cohesion

Waldron’s continued involvement, even in a supporting capacity, is highly significant. As the architect of the Multiverse in Loki, his perspective is crucial for ensuring that the massive team-up films maintain narrative consistency with the established multiversal rules and timelines.

His continued guidance helps to ensure a cohesive story for the sprawling cast, which is confirmed to include numerous legacy characters and variants facing off against Doctor Doom.

Do you think having Michael Waldron involved, even in a support role, is essential for connecting the films back to the events of Loki?
