Mutants Having Sex: The Wild Plot Detail Of Channing Tatum’s Gambit Movie
In an interview, Channing Tatum revealed that his canceled Gambit film would be Para Maiores, and would have 'mutants having sex'.
The Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum remains one of the great “what ifs” of the pre-MCU era, and the actor just revealed exactly how wild the film would have been.
Tatum confirmed that the version he and the creative team developed at Fox was a Rated R romantic comedy that included surprisingly explicit content.
When asked if that long-lost project could ever be revived, Tatum was blunt about the impossible nature of their original script.
“Mutants Having Sex! It Was Wild”
Tatum explained that the project truly went for the higher age rating, noting:
“It was an R-rated romantic comedy. And when I say Rated R, I mean we went for it.”
The actor detailed that their vision of Gambit was a character who could only exist tonally next to Deadpool.
The script reportedly featured a level of mature content Disney and Marvel Studios would never approve. “We had mutants having sex! It was wild—full-on,” Tatum revealed.
He acknowledged that Disney’s brand avoids horror and sex, but argued that Marvel needs a greater tonal diversity to balance the rest of the universe.
Tatum expressed hope that the studio will eventually figure out the right way to approach the character, noting that there’s so much they can do with him. For now, fans will have to settle for his confirmed return as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday.
