Spider-Man 4: Hated Character Reportedly Returning for New Film

According to a new report from insider DanielRPK, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature the return of Flash Thompson, played by Tony Revolori. The character, who was a prominent figure in the first two films, only had a brief, single-scene appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This news has been met with mixed reactions, as the character is disliked by many fans who complain that he was an unfaithful adaptation of the classic comic book bully in the Tom Holland trilogy.

The Agent Venom Condition

On social media, many fans are arguing that this version of Flash Thompson, who was portrayed more as a wealthy, superficial academic rival than a physical jock, does not warrant a return.

However, many have noted one major exception. The consensus among fans is that his return would be welcome if the character is finally set on the path to becoming Agent Venom, which is his most famous storyline in the comics. This transformation would see Flash bond with the symbiote and become a government-sanctioned anti-hero.

Without this dramatic shift in character, many fans feel his return is unnecessary for Peter Parker’s new, grounded story.
