X-Men Marvel Animation Tells the Complete Story of Jean Grey as the Dark Phoenix
In a new Marvel animated short, the most iconic X-Men storyline — the rise of the Dark Phoenix — is finally told in full. Check it out.

The X-Men have many iconic stories in Marvel Comics, and one of the most important is definitely The Dark Phoenix Saga.
Chris Claremont’s legendary arc shows Jean Grey embracing her most powerful and uncontrollable form after a cosmic force known as the Phoenix consumes her.
Marvel’s X-Men Animation Tells the Complete Dark Phoenix Story!
On the big screen, this same saga has already been adapted twice — first in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and later in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).
Neither version managed to truly capture the essence of the original comic. Fans saw both films as disappointing attempts to adapt one of the greatest X-Men stories ever told.
Now, Marvel has taken a bold new approach by telling the entire saga in just two minutes through a stylish animated short titled Marvel’s This Day in History.
This animated series already features around 30 episodes (watch) and presents Miss Minutes narrating key events from the Marvel Universe. This time, the spotlight shines on the X-Men and Jean Grey’s dramatic transformation into the Dark Phoenix. Watch it below!
Do Fans Want More of the Dark Phoenix?
As we mentioned above, Marvel adapted the saga twice in live-action — but neither attempt found much success. However, it remains a fan-favorite story among X-Men enthusiasts.
With a reboot of the X-Men coming to the MCU, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios decides to revisit this story once again. Perhaps, on the third attempt, the Dark Phoenix will finally rise the way fans have always hoped.
