Avengers: Doomsday Rumored to Open With Spider-Man vs. X-Men Battle
Rumors say Avengers: Doomsday opens with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man battling Fox's X-Men in an incursion scene.

Avengers: Doomsday may open with one of the most insane scenes in the entire history of Marvel on the big screen.
Yes, according to new rumors, the film’s opening will be a true tribute to the 2000s, bringing together Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man and Fox’s original X-Men.
But don’t expect a friendly meeting between these big heroes. Quite the opposite: from all indications, they’ll be on completely opposite sides.
Avengers 5 will have Spider-Man vs. the X-Men!
According to Sanctum Scoops, the film’s opening will show an incursion happening in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe.
In other words, the reality created by Sam Raimi in the 2000s would be on a collision course with Fox’s X-Men universe. And, as we already know, an incursion usually ends with the destruction of one of the realities.
That means the mutants would need to invade Peter Parker’s universe to save their own world. This would put Tobey’s hero in a direct battle against the X-Men.
And the most interesting part is that Spider-Man wouldn’t be alone. According to the rumor, Alfred Molina would also return as Doctor Octopus.
However, continuing from what we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Otto Octavius would return as Peter’s ally. That means we’d see Doctor Octopus fighting alongside Spider-Man against the mutants.
The scene is shaping up to be truly historic, especially for bringing together two of the biggest symbols of Marvel on the big screen in the 2000s: Sam Raimi’s trilogy and Fox’s X-Men franchise.
It’s worth remembering that Marvel has already confirmed the return of the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday. The film is set to premiere on December 17, 2026, directed by the Russo Brothers, with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
