Spider-Man 4: Mark Ruffalo Denies Involvement, but Leaked Trailer Reveals His Appearance

Mark Ruffalo denies involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, the film's leaked trailer revealed the actor's appearance in the production.

Although Mark Ruffalo recently let slip that he and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) will be in Avengers: Secret Wars, the Hulk actor has denied his presence in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with MTV (via Film Crave) to promote the thriller Crime 101, the film’s stars, Ruffalo and Hemsworth, were asked which of Tom Holland’s upcoming 2026 movies they were most looking forward to watching: The Odyssey or Spider-Man 4.

While debating, the Hulk actor asked Thor, “Why aren’t we in these movies?” indicating that neither of them will be in Spider-Man 4. Shortly after, Ruffalo reiterated his point, adding that they “should be” in those films.

However, despite his denial, the leaked trailer for Brand New Day and footage of the actor on set have confirmed Ruffalo’s participation in the movie.

Leaked Spider-Man 4 Trailer

In the trailer, which you can watch by clicking here, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is seen asking Bruce Banner (Ruffalo) for help. However, the scientist and professor doesn’t seem to remember who the young hero is. This reinforces the idea that the spell cast in No Way Home is still in full effect.

In short, Ruffalo is lying about his casting in Spider-Man 4. Unless his role was cut from the final film, which is highly unlikely. The Hulk seems to be a key part of the plot.

Marvel likely asked him not to confirm anything until the official trailer release, which still doesn’t have a set date.

In addition to Holland and Ruffalo, the new Spider-Man feature will also star Jon Bernthal as the anti-hero The Punisher, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Michael Mando as the villain Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as the villain Tombstone, Tramell Tillman possibly as the villain William Metzger, and Sadie Sink possibly as the heroine Jean Grey.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.
