Spider-Man 4: Sony Bans This Major Character From Interacting With Tom Holland
Sony has reportedly forbidden Spider-Man 4 from featuring a major character interacting with Tom Holland’s hero — here’s why.

Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day will be the next film in the franchise starring Tom Holland, currently set to hit theaters on July 30, 2026.
Even though there’s still nearly a year to go before its release, the movie is already one of the most anticipated titles of next year, promising a triumphant return for the friendly neighborhood hero.
The film is also expected to feature some exciting appearances, including Hulk, The Punisher, and Yelena Belova. However, there’s one major character who has been banned by Sony.
Sony Bans a Character From Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4!
Despite the impressive lineup of characters, one fan-favorite hero won’t be appearing in the next Spider-Man movie — and that’s a decision straight from Sony.
We’re talking about Miles Morales. The ban was actually confirmed by Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios. Speaking to Variety, Feige said: “We were told to stay away from him.”
Previously, there were plenty of rumors suggesting that Miles Morales would make his live-action debut in Spider-Man 4. Unfortunately, Sony didn’t allow Marvel to move forward with that idea.
Why Did Sony Block Miles Morales’ Appearance?
Apparently, Sony already has its own plans for a live-action version of Miles Morales. We’ll likely only learn more about those plans after the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
It’s worth noting that, before production on Spider-Man 4 even began, Tom Holland himself had expressed multiple times how much he wanted Miles Morales to appear in future films.
“I’d love to do for a younger kid what Robert Downey Jr. did for me.”
