Avengers: Doomsday will have a strategy to increase its box office

Without the world's largest cinema screens, Disney is seeking another strategy to boost the box office for Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday will have a strategy to increase its box office

In its worldwide theatrical debut on December 18th, Avengers: Doomsday will not have the world’s largest cinema screens on its side: IMAX.

It is not just about the size of the room, but mainly the more expensive ticket price that Marvel will miss out on due to the premiere of Dune: Part Three, which will take place on the same day.

The third part of Denis Villeneuve’s film was shot with IMAX cameras and, because of this, it had to be given full priority by the brand, which always favors movies filmed with its equipment.

Without the revenue from IMAX theaters, which has been making a significant difference in movie numbers in recent years, what will be Marvel’s strategy to overcome this?

Disney wants to occupy the world’s “premium format screens”

According to TheWrap, Disney is planning to invest heavily so that Avengers: Doomsday has an exclusive release in premium format cinemas. You might be wondering right now: what is a premium format cinema?

You know when you go to the movies and you see the promotion of rooms with larger screens? There are Dolby, D-Box, 4DX and more. Disney also plans to occupy the most recent XL format from AMC, which was designed to show massive box office movies on larger screens.

Thus, even though Avengers: Doomsday may not be able to count on IMAX theaters, Disney wants to occupy all other large-screen rooms (and more expensive tickets) exclusively.

This would slightly reduce the damage that the lack of an IMAX release will cause. This format, which has become very famous in recent years, has been the public’s main choice when watching a movie at the premiere, preferring the largest screen for their experience.

Whether in premium or normal format, the certainty is that we will watch Avengers: Doomsday on opening day, right? Share your thoughts with us below, and stay tuned to Legado da Marvel so you don’t miss any news!

I've been in love with Marvel since I watched Iron Man 2 in the theaters. Since 2010, I started reading, watching, playing, and discussing everything involving Marvel. The love was so deep that I always wanted to share it with other people, and that's why I created Legado da Marvel in 2017.
