Emma Stone Rumored to Return as Gwen Stacy in Avengers: Secret Wars

Rumor suggests Emma Stone may return as Spider-Woman in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Avengers: Secret Wars could end up fulfilling a long-time dream for Andrew Garfield‘s Spider-Man fans.

Yes, we’re talking about the possibility of Emma Stone returning as Gwen Stacy. And even better: it wouldn’t just be the same Gwen we knew from The Amazing Spider-Man.

A new rumor suggests the actress could return as a version of Gwen who became Spider-Woman. In other words, we’d finally get Spider-Gwen in live-action.

Emma Stone could return as Spider-Woman in Avengers!

According to insider Yellow Minute, Emma Stone is being considered for a return in Avengers: Secret Wars as Spider-Woman. The information, however, has not yet been confirmed by more credible sources.

The idea makes perfect sense within the multiverse. In the comics, Gwen Stacy from Earth-65 is the one who was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, going on to fight crime as a hero. Her origin was revealed in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, released in 2014.

On top of that, the character’s success in the animated Spider-Verse films only increased fans’ desire to see a live-action version on the big screen. And nobody would be more perfect for the role than Emma Stone.

It’s worth remembering that Stone’s Gwen died in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, leaving a deep wound in Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker. So introducing a living, heroic variant would be a massive moment for the character.

Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters in December 2027, directed by the Russo Brothers. Before that, we’ll get Avengers: Doomsday, set for December 2026.

So if the rumor turns out to be true, Secret Wars could deliver one of the biggest surprises of the entire Multiverse Saga. And who wouldn’t want to see Andrew Garfield reuniting with Gwen Stacy – now as a hero?
