GTA 6 Trailer Breaks Avengers: Infinity War Record

After almost 9 years since its release, the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War had its record broken by GTA 6.

GTA 6 Trailer Breaks Avengers Infinity War Record

The reign of the Avengers has ended, not by a new supervillain, but by the most anticipated video game of the decade. GTA 6 has officially become the most viewed trailer in YouTube history (excluding ads), surpassing the legendary record previously held by Avengers: Infinity War.

The numbers confirm the massive shift in entertainment dominance. The first look at Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world epic has now amassed over 269 million views, edging past the Marvel Studios blockbuster, which sits at approximately 268 million views.

Gaming Takes the Crown

This milestone is significant because it marks a symbolic passing of the torch from cinema to gaming as the dominant force in pop culture hype. For years, the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer was the gold standard for internet-breaking promotional material, representing the peak of the MCU’s cultural impact.

However, the anticipation for GTA 6, a game over a decade in the making, has proven to be an unstoppable force. The trailer, which introduced the world to the neon-soaked state of Leonida and the dual protagonists Lucia and Jason, achieved this record in less than two years, whereas the Infinity War trailer has been accumulating views since 2017.

A New Era of Hype

The achievement highlights the sheer scale of the Grand Theft Auto brand. While Avengers: Infinity War was the culmination of a decade of storytelling across multiple films, GTA 6 has generated comparable—and now superior—interest with a single 90-second video.

As the release date approaches, analysts expect the trailer’s view count to continue climbing, setting a potentially unreachable bar for any future movie or game trailer. The question now is not if GTA 6 will break more records, but how many.

I've been in love with Marvel since I watched Iron Man 2 in the theaters. Since 2010, I started reading, watching, playing, and discussing everything involving Marvel. The love was so deep that I always wanted to share it with other people, and that's why I created Legado da Marvel in 2017.
