Sony Takes Action Over Spider Man: Brand New Day Trailer Leak
Sony removes alleged Spider Man 4 trailer from social media, sparking speculation about an official release

An alleged trailer for Spider Man: Brand New Day began circulating on forums and quickly caught the attention of Sony Pictures. Shortly after, the studio started sending copyright takedown notices to remove the video from platforms such as X and Reddit.
Users reported that accounts were restricted or suspended soon after posting the footage, which appeared to be in an early stage of completion. Before that, many fans dismissed the video as fake or heavily edited. Sony’s reaction changed that perception and raised questions about where the images came from.
So far, the company has not made any public statement about the situation or confirmed whether the content shared online is authentic.
The incident comes just days after the leak of an Avengers: Doomsday teaser, which also led Marvel Studios to quickly remove clips from the internet. In Spider Man’s case, the situation drew even more attention because there were no signs that a trailer release was approaching.
Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is scheduled to premiere on July 31, 2026. The movie will be the first in the franchise starring Tom Holland without Jon Watts as director.
The story is expected to follow Peter Parker in a more grounded phase, dealing with adult life, paying rent, and keeping up with the daily responsibility of protecting the city.
Leaks are nothing new for the character. In 2021, Spider Man: No Way Home went through a similar situation before its first teaser was released, with videos taken down due to copyright claims days before the official footage debuted.
At the moment, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have not confirmed when audiences will see the first official trailer for Brand New Day. Recent attention has been focused on Avengers, which pushed the idea of an immediate Spider Man reveal out of the spotlight.
When the trailer could be released

Speculation picked up after a recent post from Sony Pictures UK on X. The account shared an image of Tom Holland with the caption:
“all we want for Christmas is [Tom Holland]”
Some fans interpreted the message as a hint at a trailer release, but nothing has been officially confirmed. The film Anaconda, distributed by Sony, premieres on December 25, which leaves room for a teaser to play in theaters on that date.
Earlier rumors suggested the trailer could debut alongside Avatar Fire and Ash on December 19, but those reports have lost momentum in recent weeks.
Many fans still believe a release before the end of the year is possible, although competing for attention with Avengers: Doomsday could influence that decision. If December passes without any news, February becomes a likely option, especially around the Super Bowl.
Brand New Day will hit theaters before the next Avengers movie, so an official trailer is bound to arrive sooner or later. For now, it’s a matter of waiting to see what Sony does next.
