Spider-Man: Far From Home – 10 Fun Facts
Released in 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home is the second solo Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland and went on to gross over one billion dollars worldwide.

Released in 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home is Peter Parker’s second solo theatrical adventure, once again starring Tom Holland.
The film officially closes Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is packed with hidden details, comic book references, and interesting behind-the-scenes facts.
10 fun facts about Spider-Man: Far From Home
Below are 10 curiosities that make Peter Parker’s European adventure even more special:
1. The True Ending of Phase 3
Many fans believe Avengers: Endgame marked the end of Phase 3 of the MCU. However, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, confirmed that Spider-Man: Far From Home is the true epilogue of that saga.
The movie deals directly with the grief caused by Tony Stark’s death and shows how the world moved forward after the Blip, the in-universe term for Thanos’ snap.
2. Uncle Ben’s Suitcase
Even though Uncle Ben has never physically appeared in the MCU, his presence is felt through subtle details.
The old suitcase Peter uses on his trip to Europe has the initials BFP engraved on it, which stand for Benjamin Franklin Parker. It is a quiet but emotional tribute to the uncle who shaped Peter into a hero.
3. Jake Gyllenhaal Almost Played Spider-Man
Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays the villain Mysterio in the film, nearly replaced Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 2 due to Maguire’s back injury at the time.
Years later, Gyllenhaal finally joined the Spider-Man universe, but as a villain who exploits Peter’s trust.
4. The Elementals Have Names
The monsters attacking Europe are not random creations. They are inspired by classic Spider-Man villains from the comics:
- The water creature in Venice represents Hydro-Man.
- The fire monster in Prague is Molten Man.
- The earth monster in Mexico is Sandman.
- The briefly seen wind creature is Cyclone.
5. The Meaning of E.D.I.T.H.
The glasses Tony Stark leaves behind for Peter house an artificial intelligence called E.D.I.T.H. Staying true to Stark’s sharp sense of humor, the acronym stands for Even Dead, I’m The Hero.
6. The Fishbowl Helmet
Mysterio’s iconic fishbowl helmet made the jump from the comics to the big screen, but Jake Gyllenhaal rarely wore the physical version.
In most scenes, the helmet was added using CGI, since the practical prop severely limited the actor’s vision and breathing.
7. The First Solo Spider-Man Film to Reach 1 Billion
Premiering three months after Avengers: Endgame, the movie benefited from the massive momentum of Marvel’s biggest cinematic event, which at the time was also the highest-grossing film in history.
Riding that wave of hype, the film became the first solo Spider-Man movie to surpass 1 billion dollars at the box office, reaching a total of 1.132 billion.
Early in the film, during the charity event organized by Aunt May, a poster in the background advertises a wrestling match featuring Crusher Hogan. In the comics and in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie, Hogan is the opponent Peter faces when he first tests his powers in the ring.
8. Night Monkey
The black stealth suit worn by Peter is jokingly nicknamed Night Monkey by Ned as a way to protect his friend’s identity.
The joke became so popular that Sony even released a fake trailer promoting a fictional solo movie about this “new European hero.”
9. Nick Fury’s License Plate
Marvel’s attention to detail is impressive. In one scene, the car driven by Nick Fury and Maria Hill has the license plate MTU83779.
This is a reference to Marvel Team-Up issue #83, released in July 1979, which features a story involving Spider-Man and Nick Fury.
10. The Skrull Twist
The post-credits scene reveals that Nick Fury and Maria Hill were actually the Skrulls Talos and Soren the entire time, acting on behalf of the real Fury.
This explains why “Fury” was so easily deceived by Mysterio throughout the film. He was not the hyper-paranoid master spy fans know, but an alien doing his best in an unfamiliar role.
