Spider-Man: Brand New Day Leak Reveals Grey Hulk Image

Alleged Leaked Funko Pop Image for Spider-Man: Brand New Day Reveals Grey Hulk’s Presence in the Film

A supposed leaked image of Funko Pops for the movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day stunned Marvel fans by revealing a Grey Hulk collectible.

While it’s not possible to confirm whether the leak is authentic, X’s AI (formerly Twitter), Grok, claimed that the Grey Hulk Funko is real.

The image also shows Funko Pops of Spider-Man and the Punisher. However, the figures for both heroes don’t appear to include any surprises or character spoilers.

The possible appearance of Grey Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn’t exactly new. Last year, insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBook.com) reported that the gray version of the Emerald Giant would appear in the upcoming web-slinger movie.

According to ComicBook, Grey Hulk was originally planned to appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The initial idea was for Hulk to turn gray when Wanda enters his mind and triggers a rage episode in South Africa.

The concept was that a more savage version of Hulk would take on the gray coloration. And since we already know that Bruce Banner’s alter ego is expected to lose control in Spider-Man 4, it looks like Sony may finally use a concept Marvel Studios ultimately didn’t move forward with in Avengers 2.

Grey Hulk in the comics

Not many people realize it, but in Hulk’s very first comic appearance, The Incredible Hulk #1 from 1962, the character was actually gray. He only became green starting with the second issue. The change happened because gray ink was difficult to reproduce consistently with the printing technology of the time.

That said, the most famous version of Grey Hulk in the comics came in the 1980s, when the character adopted the identity of Joe Fixit and worked as a casino enforcer in Las Vegas.

Joe Fixit represents a sly, more street-smart version of Hulk, trading raw rage for cunning. He also differs from the standard Hulk in that he typically only emerges at night and has a sharper, more sarcastic intelligence.

While green Hulk is pure fury, Joe Fixit is a strategist who wears tailored suits and prefers manipulation over direct confrontation.

Still, it almost certainly won’t be Joe Fixit who appears in Spider-Man, but rather the more savage version hinted at in Age of Ultron.
